This is our first issue of Brushstrokes. Every week, we'll share what we shipped, what we learned, and what's next.
Surfaces
We finally shipped the feature we've been working towards for the past two years.
From day one, we wanted you to design from any page of your app. Codebases are complex, and it just hasn't been possible until today.
Our compiler, backed by GPT 5.5, can render any surface of your app with perfect fidelity. No databases, feature flags, or other dependencies to set up. It just works.
We've launched a beta version with a small set of users and the reception has been amazing. We're now rewriting a lot of Dessn primitives to put Surfaces at the core of the entire experience.
New and improved Surfaces features next week.
Message queueing
You can now queue messages in Dessn.
Since Dessn runs in the cloud, you can close your laptop, go offline, and head out for a big hike in <insert your favourite national park>. Come back to find that your prompts have already run and you have been promoted.
The agent is going on and on about something and you just want to interrupt it? Finally, hit the steer button to interrupt the AI and send your queued message immediately.
Touching grass has never been easier.
File attachments
You can now attach files other than images to a prompt.
For example, upload a JSON of a dataset and ask the agent to use the JSON data in your designs.
Any file under 25 MB works. CSV, JSON, TXT, MD, PDF, whatever your agent needs.
Code diffs
In the code view, we now show the diff of what changed instead of the whole file.
Coming up
A peek at what we're working on for next week.
Auto-update. We'll auto-compile Dessn every time production is updated, so you're always up to date.
Latency improvements. Creating whole experiences in Dessn is amazing, but polishing them can be painful. Small changes take longer than they should. We're shipping a few things to fix that.
